The CEE Trust Program represented a unique contribution to the development of the NGO sector in the Czech Republic. In contrast to most other funding, it focused on implementing systemic changes with long-term impacts. Thanks to its comprehensiveness, it addressed the issues of NGO capacity, sustainability and the overall environment for NGO operations at the same time, and thus achieved the utmost benefit from this synergy. This was the first time, since the end of communism, that Czech NGOs had the opportunity to participate in a program that incorporated such a concise approach toward the crucial challenges of the emerging civil society.
