Five Years After the Floods

09/12/2007

floods In August 2002, the most devastating floods to hit central Europe in five hundred years occurred causing nearly incalculable damage.
As rivers surged up to thirty feet above their banks, tens of thousands were displaced, vital infrastructure was destroyed, and irreplaceable historical buildings and objects were lost.

With unprecedented support of donors from across the world, we at Via were heavily involved in the rebuilding process in Bohemia. Your support led to the restoration of dozens of damaged castles, archives, museums, churches, and theaters.

On the fifth anniversary of the 2002 Floods, we would like to share with you a few photos to remember the extent of the catastrophe. It was only with the support of people like you that we have been able to rebuild and preserve the cultural and historical jewels of the Czech Republic. Dekujeme!
